About
Hi, I'm a programmer who writes the long things the internet has no patience for.
Hi, my name is Vladimir (Vlad) Goncharov and I’m a software engineer.
This blog exists for a rather banal reason: the plain impossibility of publishing some of my thoughts on social media. Unfortunately I’m a little tongue-tied, and I can’t always make my case in the 3–5 seconds most people are willing to spend deciding whether to keep scrolling or move on.
What’s far worse, I’m guilty of writing about things that aren’t always interesting to other people. So my best options came down to two: become a hermit and go live in a cave, or start this blog and write about whatever I want with no regard for the audience — which, honestly, amounts to the same thing.
So if you’re not prepared to sit through long reads on assorted engineering-and-futurist topics, let me congratulate you: there’s nothing wrong with you, you’re a perfectly normal person, and you won’t enjoy it here. If you are prepared for it — come here and let me hug you, you wonderful weirdo.
I should warn you: I write every post in Russian first (without AI), and then translate it into English (with AI), so a few traces of the original crime against language may still linger in the text.
